k is an artist, dancer, death doula, reiki practitioner, yogi, intuitive, ordained interfaith minister, former attorney, and soundmaker focusing on platonic holding therapy, as well as grief, transition, past life, and end-of-life support.
k is certified as an end of life doula and funeral celebrant with Olivia Bareham of Sacred Crossings (LA), and an RYT 200 from BodSphere.
before finding their true path, they attended and taught legal writing at the University of Illinois College of Law (2014), a top law school, started their own law firm, Flex Counsel, and were on the path to running for office—groomed by Emerge Colorado, a "progressive" political training group, and sitting on many state and national boards and commissions, including appointment by Governor Hickenlooper of Colorado to the Low Income Energy Commission.
k's own near-death and extended period of illness in 2019-2020, suffered mostly alone, inspired them to leave law practice and explore the portal of death and their role in opening others. they have practiced with teachers, street mystics, and at centers and ashrams in a wide range of traditions (including Sivananda Yoga, Transcendental Meditation, and Dzogchen Buddhism), and practices (including family constellation therapy, group facilitation, and several modalities of meditation).
k has also trained with Amma ("the hugging saint"), Reiki Master, Dreama Blankenbeckler (Santa Fe), and Dale Borglum of the Living/Dying Center (San Francisco)—who, together with Ram Dass and Steven and Ondrea Levine, started the Dying Center outside Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1980—the western world’s first residential hospice house. they are further influenced by Martín Prechtel, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Russell Granston—an unhoused foot-traveling mystic they met in Moab, Utah, and various indigenous perspectives that are begging us to be slower, loving, playful, mindful, less consuming, more in-tune humans.
k has performed stand up at Flappers Comedy in Los Angeles after Jay Leno, styled members of the legendary Sun Ra Arkestra, and rock-climbed all around the desert west while living out of a Prius. k has performed recently at the Institute for Contemporary Art in Santa Fe, New Mexico and on theremin with the Santa Fe Noise Ordinance, and Drone Club, a 30+ member drone orchestra, and has served as a death doula with Scott’s House (Santa Fe), a non-profit dying home, and provided support for the deaths of numerous people, animals, and their families.
k's mantra is: many lives, many lands, many teachers, no masters, all one, liberation not peace
