what do you want to leave behind?
what would friends and family be tasked with if you went tomorrow?
what if, due to emergency or life changes, you need to leave abruptly and can't bring it all?
through swedish death cleaning, k guides individuals of all ages in decluttering, organizing, and preparing for a life of peace, freedom, reduced attachments, and lightness of being.
swedish death cleaning or "döstädning," a tradition of decluttering and organizing one's life before passing away, began trending with the release of Margareta Magnussen's book, "The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning: How to Free Yourself and Your Family from a Lifetime of Clutter."
this practice—not exclusive to those aging or facing death—encourages intentional living by simplifying possessions and promoting a sense of order. in our sessions, I assist you in reducing your material impact, releasing objects (and the energy they carry) that no longer are supported or supporting you, and creating a living space that reflects your values and priorities so that you may leave behind a meaningful legacy (and not a mess).
k has personally reduced her belongings and living space multiple times -- giving everything she owned away (more than a 20ft uhaul truck of stuff) first in 2020, and moving into a Prius C (the smallest prius) with her dog and traveling the desert west and Mexico for nearly 2 years. in 2024, she tragically lost her housing and reduced her belongings and living space to nearly 1/6 in less than two weekends. k now lives in a 9x11 tiny home and has hopes to reduce even further.
